Diese Stellung wird von L. Zagler im Artikel "Urheberschaft und Vorwegnahme bei Rekordkonstruktionen" besprochen (fs-13, S.27). Die Position war ursprünglich nur für Thema A2b1=Zugsperrungen konzipiert. Es hat sich jedoch herausgestellt, dass die Stellung für Thema A23b2 optimal ist. Nach Zagler's Grundsatz-2 wird der Rekord C.J.Morse zugesprochen. Laut Zagler hatte Thur Row diese Position unter eigenem Namen farbvertauscht veröffentlicht als Position 138 Chess Ultimates 04/1972. L. Zagler: "... seinen Anspruch auf Autorenschaft, ob gewollt oder unbeabsichtigt, müssen wir aber zurückweisen".

Speckmann behauptet in Schach-Echo 01/1979, Seite 16, dass die Aufgabe schon in 35 Zügen lösbar ist. Er gibt folgende Stellung nach dem 14. schwarzen Zuge an: Kd2 Lc4 - Kb1 La1 Ba3b2c5f3f4f5f6 und meint, dass nun 15. Le6 c4 16.Lxc4 f2 17. Kd1 f3 18. Kd2 f4 19. Kd1 f5 20. Kd2 f1=D 21. Lxf1 Ka2 22. Ld4+ Kb1 23. Le6! f2 24. Lxf5+ Ka2 25. Le6+ Kb1 26. Lc4 f3 27. Kd1 f1 28. Lxf1 Ka2 29. Lc4+ Kb1 30. Kd2 f2 31. Kd1 f1=D+ 32. Lxf1 Ka2 33. Lc4+ Kb1 34. Kd2 (oder Lg8) a2 35. Ld3#.
Bleibt die Frage, ob Schwarz diese Schlüsselstellung umgehen kann.
Wer untersucht das genauer?
Anton Baumann: In Version W. Speckmann: 19.-,f1D! statt f5 dauert 2 Züge länger; desgl. braucht Weiss nach 21.-,f2 statt Ka2 2 Züge mehr. Also total 39 Züge! (2014-03-08)
Olaf Jenkner: Es ist ein Matt in 38 Zügen, allerdings ist die angegebene Autorlösung ist Humbug.
1) Das Pendel 7. Lf1 Ka2 8. Lc4+ Kb1 ist überflüssig, demnach ginge es schon in 36 Zügen
2) 12. ... f1=D? spart einen weiteren Zug ein, besser wäre 12. ... f5
3) 13. ... Ka2? kürzt stark ab: 14. Lc4+ Kb1 15. Lxf7! , besser wäre 13. ... c4

In der Lösung kann Weiß im 24. und 31. Zug den Wartezug auch mit dem Läufer machen:
