Michael Herzberg: Sehr gelungene Darstellung einer Idee von L.Loshinsky, V. I. Shif, siehe P1044406 (2022-03-21)

Michael Herzberg: 1…g2 2.Dg1 Tc2+ 3.Sxc2 ~ 4.Dh2#/Dd4# ; 1…g2 2.Dg1 Txe3 3.Dxe3 ~ 4.d4#/Dd4#/Df4#/Dg5#; 1…g5 2.Df1 Tc2+ 3.Sxc2 ~ 4.Df5#/Df6#/Lf6# ; 1…g5 2.Df1 Tb3+ 3.Kxb3 ~ 4.Df5#/Df6#/Lf6#

Preisrichter Michel Caillaud in feenschach IX-X 1999:
"There already exist several 'consequent‘ series-movers with two castlings, but this one has the extra feature of the return to the initial position of the two thematical units. Very entertaining and neatly done".
Sehr unterhaltsam, sauber gemacht."
Arno Tüngler: Ursprüngliche inkorrekte Version in -0-0- 1980.

Hätte Schwarz 2 Wartezüge, ginge 1. Ke6, 2. Kxd5, 3. Lc4#!
1. Ld3?/Ld1?, 2. Le2+/Lc3 sähe gut aus, ginge aber nicht 1. - - Ld2! mit dem Angriff auf dem Turm. Der Turm gehört zuerst
auf ein weißes Feld der 3. Reihe.

Weiße Schlagfälle: a2xDb3, sLc8f8; schwarze Schlagfälle: c7xLb6, h7xg6xf5xe4xd3xBc2. +wTc1? (1. Txa1#) +wTa8! (1.Txa7#).

'Chess Fruits' macht folgende Angaben:
"Best in the Ladies' International Problem Tourney, 1883 and 4.
Motto -- "Somebody's Darling"
by Mrs. T.B. Rowland
Published in 'Sheffield and Rotherham Independent', 'Bristol Mercury', Nottinghamshire Guardian', 'Science Monthly', 'Irish Sportsman', 'Chess Player's Chronicle', 'Land and Water', 'Nuova Rivista degli Scacchi', and 'La Stratégie'."
athulin: Won the prize for the best problem by a British composer in her first year of composition in the Matlock Register, 1883 / Sheffield & Rotherham Independent, 1883 tournament for ladies. (It was announced as 'best problem' in S&RI and elsewhere, but that does not quite match the published prize plan.)
The tourney was announced in Matlock Register in spring 1883, with a closing date of December 31, 1883, but the editor (then Miss F. F. Beechey, later Mrs. T. B. Rowland) resigned the column in mid-November 1883, and began a new/continued column in (at least) Sheffield & Rotherham Independent on Dec. 1, 1883.
First known publication is in S&RI 1884-05-31, when the awards were announced. It ought to have been published earlier, but sources are unfortunately patchy (SR&I 1883-12-01? Matlock Register 1883?) (2023-01-12)
