Das Matt der Dilaram ist eine der bekanntesten Mansuben. Es stammt von Abu-Bakr as-Suli, findet sich in einer alten Stambuler Handschrift und wird vor 946 datiert. Dilaram war, der Rahmenerzählung nach, die Lieblingsfrau eines Sultans, der als leidenschaftlicher Schachspieler sogar um sie spielte. Als er mit den weißen Steinen spielend drauf und dran war, sie zu verlieren, rief sie aus: "Opfere deine Türme und rette dein Weib!"

Das "Matt der Dilaram", auch "Problem der Edelfrau" oder "Matt der Haremsdame" genannt, gilt als ein Kronjuwel der Problemkunst. Es wird dem 946 verstorbenen Abu-Bakr Muhammad ben Yahya as-Suli zugeschrieben, dessen "Buch des Schach" (Kitab ash-shatranj) eine Sammlung herausragender Mansuben enthielt, die zumindest fragmentarisch erhalten blieben.
Von dieser Mansube gibt es voneinander abweichende Darstellungen.

Der Legende nach stand der dem Schach verfallene, jedoch nur mäßig begabte Großwesir Murwardi, vor dem finanziellen Ruin. Als letzten Wetteinsatz (Schach war ein Wettspiel) bot er seine Lieblingsfrau Dilaram (Ruhebett des Herzens). Innerlich bereits aufgebend - er droht selbst auf b5 von einem Turm mattgesetzt zu werden - flüsterte sie ihm ins Ohr "Opfere deine Türme und rette dein Weib", womit er sie, bzw. sie sich, retten konnte.

AZW: Das sogenannte "Dilaram-Matt" entstammt dem alten, inzwischen verlorengegangenen as-Suli-Manuskript aus dem zehnten Jahrhundert.

Mirko Degenkolbe: Wenn man auf den Käfig verzichtet (der Schlüssel spielt sich ja quasi "von selbst"), kann man den Inhalt auf das Miniaturformat herunterbrechen:

In diesem weißen Minimal gibt es jetzt eine zusätzliche Verführung und ein zusätzliches Matt im Lösungsspiel.

Kurt Keller: Ein interessantes Problem ohne den Käfig zum Vergleich! Das Minimal enthält nicht mehr "Verführungen" als das Käfigproblem. Die einzige "Verführung" des Minimals scheitert an 6! Verteidigungszügen. Das zusätzliche Matt ist nur vierzügig. Das Ende der vollzügigen Lösung beider Probleme ist gleich. Sieht man von der Teilparade jeweils ab, gibt es keinen Mattdual. (2020-10-04)
