Viktoras Paliulionis: wBb6 is promoted (wPb2 and wPd2). (2021-02-12)
VL: Well, an obtrusive bishop. Could have been easily fixed by replacing wPb2 with wSa2. (2021-02-13)
A.Buchanan: Wow what an amazing composition! Like synchronized swimming, or windscreen wipers. Good catch and fix of the obtrusion. (2021-02-13)
James Malcom: Perhaps the only "defect" is the repetition of Se4. (2021-02-13)
VL: There is no repetition: S3e4 in 1) and S5e4 in 3). A distinct defect: wR doesn't participate in two solutions. Quite tolerable here in my opinion. (2021-02-13)
A.Buchanan: I’m surprised the animation isn’t thrown by the second Se4 which would have been legal either way. Of course only one way leads to mate. I thought Gerd had fixed it so it would always complain about ambiguous moves. The first Se4 is unique by pin. (2021-02-14)
Viktoras Paliulionis: I corrected ambiguities in the solution, the animation now works well. (2021-02-20)

AL liegt nicht vor, wer sieht die Lösung?
zum Autor heißt es: W.A. Korolkov (Krasnodar)
Mario Richter: Idee könnte 1. cxb5 Kd3 2. Kd5 Sd4 3. f7 Sxf7 4. b6 cxb6 patt sein, aber Schwarz kann natürlich stärker spielen (z.B. 4. ... c6+!) ... (2019-01-22)

writes: "This is a cursed win. Mate can be forced, but a draw can be achieved under the fifty-move rule." (2023-06-04)
Yuri Bilokin: I may be wrong, but the application of the 50-move rule in chess composition is inaudible. (2023-06-05)
Mario Richter: I agree, under today's law the 50-moves-rule does not apply (e.g. Handbook of Chess Composition, Article 17 - 50 Moves-Rule: Unless expressly stipulated, the 50 moves-rule does not apply to the solution of chess compositions except for retro-problems.")
But the study was published long ago, under perhaps different laws, so until we know the intention of the author, we cannot be sure about the correctness or defectness of the study ...
(I checked the scans of issues of 'Smena' available at https://smena-online.ru and https://magzdb.org, but did not find an issue with the intended solution of Korolkov's study - perhaps some problem friend can take a look at the scans too ...) (2023-06-06)

A.Buchanan: Why would we talk of helpmate promotions (particularly black ones) as underpromotions. Is a knight ever an under-promotion? And we still with all this under-promotion effort don’t know what the pieces are: it might be rook or bishop. Just label them as promotion:lts and be done (2023-01-12)
