leader bishops, double bishop promotion by White, and a two bishop mate (as in a Horwitz mate) for Black. One of the promoted bishops is sacrificed for a Ceriani-Frolkin. In most problems of this type, with a P on a7 you would expect a promotion to knight to break open b6 or c7”.

Autoren:
Verbesserung von Aufgabe H3382 „THE PROBLEMIST“ Juli 2010

Also:

Rekord Nummer eins:

In the starting position there is an immediate set matt.
But this cannot be maintained by white.
That's why he has to come up with something new.
In order to restore the starting position and thereby shift the duty to move to black, White needs ten moves.
The black king has to run two linear Rundlaufs and the white queen must be led a tempo onto the square d6. Only when all of this has been implemented can white S and white Q return to their original stands, forcing black to set the mat.

An awfully difficult problem, in particular the set-play. (I wonder how solvers at the World Championship would have mastered the problem.) The open mating position with WBd5 and WSf5 after the crazy blocking move f5-f4 is terrific! Despite the loose position, the set-play cannot be maintained, thus the kings have to change places, and paradoxically there is a tempo move at the end. A very unusual cage-style problem.
Judge Hans Gruber
(MD1626)

Inhalt:
The repeated sacrifice has a different motivation between the Solutions: each opens a different square and line. The mates are not echoes but have an echoic feel with the kings exchanging places between the two solutions.

A total of three ("two and a half") interesting variations, with three white pieces returning to their starting squares in the course of the solution. In one variation there is a radical change, whereby the originally mating black bishop is eliminated. This variation ends with a beautiful model mate. The white queen is moved from two different directions to the square c4, where it is later captured.

Der Versuch1.Dc8+? scheitert eindeutig wie folgt: 1. …Ka7 2.Dd8 Kb7! 3.Ld5+ Ka6! (nicht anders).

Hauptplan:
1.Sc5+? …bxc5+, aber 1. …Kc3!

(MD1683)

Dreifache weiße Unterverwandlung, weiße Rückkehr (Rundlauf) und Mustermatt. Die Manöver der weißen Züge zwei bis sechs werden in den Zügen sieben bis elf exakt gespiegelt „wiederholt“. Mit etwas Glück sehen wir hier das erste echte PAS-Läufer-Selbstmatt. ((-;

sKa8 sTb8, sBf6?f7, +wLd8.

White waiting move in the key. After the black queen has cleared the long diagonal (moving in the right direction), we see a black and white Bristol in the corner. A Herlin (= Peri-Indian) by white. The wKb5 is "gone around " by Bg2-b7-a6, and this interference is then also used by 6.Kf1.

Also muss sich Weiß etwas Neues einfallen lassen.

"i=h)" ein "h)=d)" bzw. "i)=h)" gemacht zu haben. (2021-12-28)
