paul: Dans une version ultérieure, Mr.Leroy a remplacé 30.-a6 avec 30.-a5. Dans un e-mail, il m'a expliqué: La version de ce problème avec 30...a6 a été démolie par Thierry le Gleuher, d'une manière presque plus compliquée que la solution
de l'auteur. En résumé de sa démolition, le PN en a6 peut n'avoir joué qu'un seul coup, mais par b7xa6!
La version avec le PN en a5 est donc une correction de ce grave défaut.

Last move was not 19.Lb5xPd7+, because Sa1 did an uneven number of moves; 18.Lb5xPd7+ fails, because White needs 19 moves, since Td1-d5 must happen early. So [Pd7] has promoted, and Black must play 1... d6 and 2... Dd7 or Ld7; only the latter works

Reto: The 21.5 move paths leading to this position are known to me and they are not cooks in my eyes, as move parity is part of the position to find. Anyone who likes can think "exact spg" or similar if that helps them. (2023-03-13)
A.Buchanan: A number of different opinions exist. To me:
(1) a shorter PG, unique or not, does not cook a PG in x.y.
(2) This is true whether the delta is z.0 or z.5 moves.
(3) A composer may choose to include "exactly" in the stipulation, but if they choose not to then the composer's stipulation "Originalforderung" may not be fiddled with by later generations.
(4) However, there may be a "database stipulation" added by curators for uniformity within a catalogue, and if the database stipulation does not match the Originalforderung, then the Originalforderung must appear in an Originalforderung field, not just as a comment. [PDB does not support this feature.]
(5) Accidental shorter solutions do constitute a defect, in my view.

Judge's comment [Kostas Prentos]: "This is not the first quadruple Pronkin in a proof game; Nicolas has published a few, already. It is the first time that one of the four thematic pieces, the wQ, is captured at home, and is replaced by a new Pronkin Queen. The promoted black Bishops are an effective, but unpleasant alternative to the standard method of doubled pawns that usually come with this theme. In this case, the capture on d1 is thematic, and that on a1, forgivable, considering that it takes 5 moves to reestablish the Rook on a1. On the plus side, all the surviving white army has resumed the initial position."
