Cook: e.p. not justified as R: 0.e3xd4 possible

VL: Unjustified ep-capture because of –e3xd4. For correction it suffices e.g. to add bSe3.
This is possibly a unique 2-move helpmate with ep-key and 2 solutions of the type 1.2.1.1 (at least so currently in the PDB).
Publi?ation details. H551 in the Helpmate section of the July issue, with no preview. Here is the text of the solution published in the Nov.-77 issue: “…White may have just played P(e3)xd4. Very few solvers have spotted this. Full marks for claim of no solution with correct reasoning but, in fairness, one mark for composer's intention. White cannot have just played K(a5)a6 in reply to Pxb6+ as too many captures by Black are required.” (2023-12-01)
A.Buchanan: Yes Valery you are right this must be cooked. However, I'm not a fan of +bSe3 because it spoils one of the model mates. Separately, I mildly prefer bPf7 to bPe6. (2023-12-03)
VL: I do prefer bPf7, as well. I don't see any way to save at least one of the properties Kindergarten Problem and Model mate (2) after fixing (what for these keywords have been added just now?). Besides, Andrew, please, refine the specification ((full) number and publication month 07-08). (2023-12-03)
A.Buchanan: Ok have added the publication details. The keywords are useful to indicate the aim, even though the problem is cooked. I guess there is a way to keep the model mates but it’s very clunky and probably +bSe3 is better (2023-12-03)

Von Verführungen im h# halte ich nichts.“ (BK) Daran anknüpfend soll hier die ausführliche Meinung von RJ wiedergegeben werden: „Übrigens sehe ich die bei Hilfsmatts nun häufiger auftretenden v-Angaben unter den Diagrammen eher kritisch. Bezieht sich das ‚vv‘ hier auf die ersten schwarzen Züge? Dann hätte es noch weniger mit einem ‚vv‘ gemeinsam, was man von Direktmatts her kennt. Ehrlich gesagt habe ich bisher bei keinem Hilfsmatt solch eine v-Angabe als wirklich überzeugend und vor allem auch als notwendig empfunden. Das Themengemisch dieser gelungenen Aufgabe inklusive seiner diversen Auswahlmöglichkeiten für Weiß und Schwarz scheint mir jedenfalls auch ohne das ‚vv‘ verständlich zu sein. Die Aufgabe wird nicht besser dadurch, und den Löser – salopp gesagt eines Rätsels – von Vornherein auf besondere Feinheiten desselben hinzuweisen und ihm so eine gewisse eigene Denkleistung und analytische Sorgfalt schon wieder abzunehmen, halte ich persönlich für fragwürdig, sogar im Direktmatt. Auch wenn ich selber schon bei komplexeren Problemen solche v-Angaben vereinzelt befürwortet habe, stellt sich mir generell die Frage, ob ein Schachproblem letztlich nicht für sich selbst sprechen sollte?Wenn seine Intention durch die Komposition klar und deutlich wird, dann erkennt doch ein etwas geschulter Löser i. d. R. auch die verführerischen Abwege klar und deutlich. Wenn letztere aber klarwerden, wozu braucht es dann noch die v-Angabe unter dem Diagramm? Die Antwort darauf sollte doch sicher nicht lauten, dass vor allem unklare Probleme (was bei 19249 keineswegs der Fall ist!) den Löser so noch auf ihre Inhalte mit der Nase stoßen können. Und wenn den Autorinnen und Autoren selbst eine besondere Betrachtungsweise ihrer Aufgabe wichtig sein sollte, könnten sie dafür nicht die Lösungsbesprechung verwenden?
