A.Buchanan: Hi Gerald, it's not a condition, it's a FIDE rule since 1997, invented by a problemist who is also a rules committee member (Igor Vereschchagin) and approved by the rules committee (headed by FIDE Head International Arbiter Stewart Reuben), backed up by a WFCC convention since 2015 (Kjell Widlert & Michel Caillaud, responding to a request from some endgame studiers who understood that it was a real thing. Like 50M rule, it applies by default for retro problems. And the PDB keywords here give the game away anyway. If it was a forward stipulation, then I would indeed add a stipulation, e.g. P1208623. Please enjoy the madness that is DP rule :) P.S. I have found recently that it was really invented by Shakespeare. (2023-07-04)

Stelle den schwarzen König in der Brettmitte und 16 weiße Steine so auf, daß jedes Fluchtfeld genau 4-mal gedeckt ist. Jeder Stein muß wenigstens ein Fluchtfeld decken, und der sK darf nicht im Schach stehen. Es sind keine Umwandlungsfiguren erlaubt.
Die Stellung ist legal unter der Annahme, dass Schwarz am Zug ist.
In dem fs-Artikel "Exakte Vielfachdeckung schwarzer Königsfluchtfelder" (fs-59 S.386ff) gibt C.Vaughan ausführliche Erläuterungen.

However for solving I suggest the stip should be the neutral "What is curious about this position?" ... der wK will sich vom T auf h6 mattsetzen lassen. Dazu muss er nacheinander Ba4, Sf1 und Bh6 beseitigen. Der Ta1 pendelt zunächst zwischen a1 und e1, sodann zwischen a1 und a6 und zuletzt zwischen a1 und h1. Um ein Tempo zu verlieren, muss der wK dabei zweimal den Dreiecksmarsch g8-h7(8)-h8(7)-g8 ausführen. Danach ist die Lösung 1. Kg2 5. c6 9. g8 12. g8 18. xa4 24. g8 27. g8 31. c6 36. xf1 41. c6 47. xh6, wobei der K immer wieder den alten Trampelpfad benutzt.

The first 13.0 moves are correct by Euclide 1.0, but it takes some 4 minutes, so a complete test would probably take more than a day (2014-12-09)

Mario Richter: I would like to label this problem as a "Massacre PG", but the current definition of that term only knows of two-sided MPGs. Perhaps we could make the same differentiation as for "Homebase"?!
