Die Matt einer Doppeldrohung erscheinen in einer anderen Phase als Variantenmatts, nach den Verteidigungen, die die Doppeldrohung zuvor verhinderten, also eine spezielle form des Donbrowskis-Paradoxes. Allerdings n einer in Variantenspiel gestaffelten Form : Die Doppeldrohung Sb6/Sxe3 erscheint in der Variante 1.- Th4 (im 3. Zug) Sie wird verhindert durch die Themenverlagerung 1. - Sd6/Sc7.
Im 1. Zug parieren sie die Drohung 2. Lb3+, ziehen aber just die Züge der Doppeldrohung, jeweils separiert, nach sich.

Autor: In Anknüpfung an das schwarze Rudenko-Paradox (vgl. P1326742 und die Diskussion in i&f Nr. 133, Januar 2017, S. 4478ff.) zeigt diese Aufgabe nun das weisse Pendant dazu, und zwar in Form eines Jacobs-Zyklus: Die Züge B und C drohen an der dritten Zählerstelle, und wenn Schwarz sie in seinem ersten Zug angreift, muss Weiss sie sofort ausführen (dies beinhaltet immer auch das Keller-Paradox.)
